Dermalogica is the leading professional skincare brand. It is one of my favorite skincare lines, and it’s also the line I used in school. Dermalogica is a professional grade, skincare line, founded by skin care therapist, Jane Wurwand. Jane came here to live out the American Dream, and is clearly succeeding as an inspiration to women all across the planet. Dermalogica is used by over 100,000 skin therapists, and is used in 100 countries worldwide.
At this time, last year, I was still in esthetics school. With my natural hunger for knowledge I was constantly researching everything I could about skincare on the internet during my free time. I worked with Dermalogica in school, and I kept noticing the hashtag #dermalogicaexpert on posts. A quick google search showed me that the Dermalogica Expert program is a three tiered educational program which interested me even more!

I do not believe in coincidences. A few days later in school, our Dermalogica account manager came in to talk to our class about the line. She asked if anyone had any questions so I asked about the expert program. She gave me a big, beautiful, smile and told me that was one of the things she was going to discuss! So, there’s two ways to be eligible for the Dermalogica Expert program, which is an award winning program offered at The Dermal Institute. The first way to be eligible for the Dermalogica Expert program is to be a spa owner with an open Dermalogica account. As a student this obviously wasn’t an option for me. The second way is to apply for and receive the Elevate Your Education Scholarship.
The Elevate Your Educational Scholarship honors the memory of Lisa White Spiering, a dedicated, driven, and talented Professional Skin Therapist and Corporate Training Manager. The scholarship includes The Dermalogica Expert Program, and the Entrepreneur Accelerator program offered at The Dermal Institute.
Like I said, I don’t believe in coincidences so I was absolutely thrilled to get all this information from my class. I took the scholarship application form home, and got right to work. I contacted my teacher for a letter of recommendation, and I contacted my mom to see if I could borrow some of her scrapbooking stuff. Scrapbooking definitely is not my forte! It’s incredibly time consuming, but the finished product is always worth it. I decided I was going to create a scrapbook to share my skincare journey. I put a lot of time and effort into it, and mailed it off to Dermalogica.

It was just a few days before Christmas, and suddenly the thought of Dermalogica popped into my mind. I thought to myself that I must have not won the scholarship, and then went about my day. Later that day, I opened my email, and was so shocked to see an email from Dermalogica! I feel so honored, and grateful to be the recipient of the Elevate Your Education scholarship!

I got right to work with all my classes! What’s incredible is Dermalogica has locations all across the world, and I was actually eligible to take a class at any of the Learning Lofts in the country! With 3 kids at home I wasn’t able to take advantage of that amazing opportunity, but I was planning to do a birthday trip to New York for my practical exam. I never made it to New York because of quarantine, but I was able to complete all my classes at home with Zoom which is pretty amazing too.

I completed all my classes back in May, and also passed my expert practical exam at that time. I received my Dermalogica Expert tee shirt, and awards the other day, and wanted to share with all of you! While I can’t do facials again just yet, I’ve learned A LOT and cannot wait to share it with you all soon! 💙
