Cruelty-Free Beauty

I like my cosmetics like how I like my diet-clean, and conscious! There are many secrets in the beauty industry! First of all, you’d be surprised to learn that the entire beauty industry is owned by just a handful of companies! It’s common practice for a large brand, like L’Oréal for example, to purchase other brands to grow their business. L’Oréal tests on animals, where required to do so by law. However, L’Oréal owns 51 other beauty brands to date, including NYX which is actually cruelty-free. I’m sharing this information because I believe this is where a lot of the confusion is coming from.

While I want you to keep this information in your mind, this will continue into a post for another time because there’s so much information to share. I just need you to understand the concept so can understand why it’s so easy for us to be deceived.

It’s important to me that I’m advocating for the animals. I recently learned that some of the makeup brands I’ve used in my Tiktoks, done reviews on, and even partnered with are not actually cruelty-free like they claim to be!

I cannot consciously continue to promote these brands, or products, and I apologize to my audience for doing so in the past!

The term “cruelty-free” isn’t even regulated at all! A lot of these companies are writing that they are cruelty-free in their animal testing policies, even though they’re aware that their products are tested on animals. I think transparency is key in anything, and really don’t appreciate brands being so dishonest.

While these brands are not testing their products directly on animals themselves, their products are imported into other countries where they comply with their laws, which do require animal testing.

Most imported cosmetics sold in mainland China are required by law to be tested on animals in 2021.

The following brands are brands that I have promoted in the past, but no longer support. It’s 2021. I do not support animal abuse, and I definitely don’t support brands that aren’t transparent, and honest about it.

Brands I No Longer Support

Clinique

This one hurt my soul. This is one of my favorite makeup brands that I grew up learning makeup on! I recently did a review on Tiktok last month of a Clinique BB Cream that I no longer recommend because they do test on animals.

Benefit Cosmetics

This is another one that bothered me. I partnered with Benefit as an affiliate, and promoted It’s Real Magnet Mascara on my blog, Instagram, and Tiktok. I no longer support this brand, and I don’t recommend any of their products.

Cetaphil

While I don’t typically post about drug store brands, I did make a Tiktok recently about products I would and wouldn’t use on my own skin from Family Dollar. I included Cetaphil because it was a brand that was personally recommended to me from a dermatologist in the past, and I’ve had good results with it. Despite this, I can no longer consciously support the brand.
