Tired of acne breakouts?
Here are my top 10 tips for clearer skin:
- Keep your skin clean. Wash your face with a high-quality cleanser morning and night.
- Moisturize daily as dry skin can trigger breakouts. Look for “noncomedogenic”
moisturizers that won’t clog your pores. - Avoid tanning beds and too much time in the sun. Both can irritate your skin and increase inflammation. Always wear sunscreen before going outside.
- Choose the right skin care. Look for oil-free products and make sure they are for your skin type.
- Avoid touching your face with your hands as this can spread bacteria and irritate your skin. Do NOT pick or pop breakouts.
- Use makeup sparingly, especially when breaking out. Use oil-free and noncomedogenic makeup products.
- Shampoo regularly and watch what you put in your hair. Fragrances, oils and gels can get on your face and clog your pores. Oily hair can also cause breakouts. Keep long hair pulled away from your face.
- Reduce stress. Stress causes inflammation, making breakouts worse. Make time for activities that help you relax, such as going on walks or listening to music.
- Eat a balanced diet. Some studies suggest foods with dairy & a high glycemic index (aka foods with a lot of carbs and sugars) can trigger breakouts.
- Use a clean face towel. Dirty towels can harbor oil, dirt and bacteria that can clog your pores.
